Our Church Activities
“And they continued steadfastly in the apostles’ doctrine and fellowship, in the breaking of bread, and in prayers.”
(Acts 2:42)
Sunday Worship Services:
The Bible teaches us that all of our activities should to be done as an act of worshiping God (Jeremiah 10:7; Mark 12:33; John 4:21; Malachi 1:11). However, the Bible also teaches that Christians are to gather on the first day of the week, the Lord’s Day, to corporately and formally worship Him, on the basis of Christ’s resurrection from the dead on the first day of the week (Acts 2:42; Hebrews 10:24-25; 1 Corinthians 16:1-2; Acts 20:7; Revelation 1:10). As we do so, we set aside our weekly affairs for the sole purpose of worshiping God through Christ. During our time together, our intention is to follow what the Bible specifically teaches about pleasing worship before God (Deuteronomy 12:32). The following items summarize the main components our worship service.
• Hearing the reading of God’s Word, the Bible;
• Offering of intercessory prayer to God;
• Giving of tithes and offerings for the work of the spread of the Gospel;
• Hearing the preaching of the Word of God as the primary focus and culmination of our worship.
Prayer Meeting:
We at Grace Baptist Church are strongly convinced of the need for regular, focused, shared prayer, and the opportunity for this is provided by our Midweek Prayer Meetings every Wednesday evening at 5:30. These personal gatherings provide us the chance to share our physical and spiritual needs with one another, to bear each others’ burdens, and to cast all our cares upon our caring Heavenly Father. We also spend time praying for our local church and for the Church around the world.In our Prayer Meeting we pray for the lost to turn from their sin and trust in Christ, for Christians to continue to be strengthened in their obedience to Christ, and also for the needy who suffer that God will be gracious to them. Prayer is also done with thanksgiving for all that God has done for us, through the God the Son, by the power of God the Holy Spirit, and according to the will of the God the Father (Psalm 95:1-7; John 14:13-14; Romans 8:26; 1 John 5:14).
